Environmental Education and Sustainability through Adobe
Building in Contexts of Vulnerability and Climate Resilience

Objective – Report the experience of university extension that applied the adobe technique as an educational and sustainable tool in a context of social vulnerability.
Methodology – Practical workshops held at IFSP/VTP-Federal Institute of Votuporanga , covering soil preparation, block production, experimental wall construction, application of natural finishes and reflection circles on sustainability and climate change.
Originality/Relevance – The work addresses adobe not only as a construction technique, but as a pedagogical practice in environmental education, highlighting its contribution to climate resilience in vulnerable communities.
Results – Production of 50 adobe blocks, construction of an experimental wall, application of whitewash and earth paint, in addition to promoting discussions on environmental impacts and low-carbon alternatives.
Theoretical/Methodological Contributions – Consolidation of adobe as a pedagogical resource in university extension, integrating science, community practice and sustainability.
Social and Environmental Contributions – Indicate the main social and environmental implications resulting from the study's findings. Encouraging community autonomy, valuing local resources, reducing environmental impact, and strengthening housing resilience in the face of climate change.
