Objective – Analyze the environmental parks in the North, Central and South Zones of Teresina-PI and their relationship with the riverside landscape of the Poti River, considering the role they play in the integration between city, nature and society.
Methodology – The research was based on a bibliographic and documentary survey, combined with map analysis, photographic records, and on-site observations. The qualitative and descriptive approach allowed us to identify the parks' strengths and weaknesses in relation to social use and integration with the river.
Originality/Relevance – The study highlights weaknesses in the planning, management, and infrastructure of these facilities, discussing how they can act as instruments for reconnecting the population with the natural environment. The research broadens the debate on sustainable urban planning, the right to the city, and the appreciation of waterscapes in urban contexts.
Results – Despite the creation and expansion of environmental parks in Teresina, the relationship with the Poti River remains fragile, marked by socio-spatial inequalities, lack of infrastructure, and limited social appropriation.
Theoretical/Methodological Contributions – Theoretically, it reinforces the importance of environmental parks as instruments for integrating the city and riverside landscape. Methodologically, it demonstrates the usefulness of a combined analysis of official documents and on-site observations.
Social and Environmental Contributions – The need to strengthen these spaces as areas for leisure, coexistence and preservation is highlighted, expanding the population's access to the banks of the Poti River and contributing to its protection.
