Permacultural Planning of A Peri-Urban Rural Property In Presidente Prudente/SP

Abstract

Permaculture is a philosophy of life that can be applied in the planning of human settlements and seeks to do so efficiently, using principles and a complex methodology. It aims to develop attractive and sustainable landscapes through sustainable construction tools, agroecological practices, and social technologies. This work proposes to develop a permaculture plan for a rural property in a peri-urban area of Presidente Prudente/SP, addressing and utilizing the ethics and methodology of Permaculture and its twelve operational principles, seeking the best use of the area and adding social, environmental, and financial improvements for users and the neighborhood. This study aimed to highlight the benefits for users resulting from the methodology of meeting demands, considering contexts for effective activity planning in terms of space utilization, travel time, and achieving social, environmental, and financial improvements using technical and social cartographies. It was found that the proposals can leverage the rural activities developed there, expanding, organizing, and making them profitable. New activities were also proposed, articulated with the existing and proposed rural activities. An implementation of the proposal may increase the product marketing capacity, enhance the environmental resilience of the area, demonstrating the efficiency of a permaculture plan compared to any unstructured and different planning currently in place.
