Abstract

This project aims to investigate the pollution of the Beberibe River, analyzing its causes, impacts and possible solutions to mitigate environmental degradation. The methodology adopted involves a theoretical approach with a literature review on water pollution and its consequences. The study contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the area of water resources management, offering a detailed analysis of the contaminants found, such as heavy metals and cyanotoxins, which compromise the health of aquatic ecosystems and the population that depends on the river. Among the results, the proposal to implement the Ecobarreira stands out, which aims to contain floating waste dumped in the river. Theoretical contributions expand the discussion on water pollution in urban contexts, highlighting the need for more effective public policies. The social implications include raising public awareness about the risks of pollution and promoting sustainable practices, while environmental contributions include the recovery of the river and the preservation of water resources, aiming to improve the community's quality of life.
