This article aims to report the didactic experience and the products arising from the optional subject “Circulation of Plants in Gardens”, offered in the Postgraduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), campus in the city of Bauru. The subject aims to illustrate the origin of certain plants, how they arrived in our country and were disseminated in parks, gardens and in the urban afforestation of some capitals, as well as in cities in the interior of São Paulo. Methodologically, the course is divided into three parts: the presentation of the theoretical framework, the case studies and the didactic trip. The trip aims to illustrate the theoretical content and complement the work of the species to be studied by the student. At the end of the course, the work generated, in “folder” format, is organized into an exhibition in the campus library. The intention of the products generated is that students and people in general can recognize, in cities today, some species of emblematic trees and palms that were part of the first gardens, vegetable gardens and botanical gardens in Brazil, as well as systematic plantings of urban road afforestation mainly from the mid-19th century in Europe and the beginning of the 20th century in Brazil.
