Urbanization and Problems Related to Basic Sanitation and the Environment in Cities

The urbanization process, together with industrialization, brought many transformations and benefits to contemporary society. However, as a result of this technological avance, cities began to face major problems with the uncontrolled growth of the population. The main problem is basic sanitation, which aims to prevent diseases and promote health, improve the quality of life the population. The purpose of this article is to present some problems related to sanitation and the reflection of its lack to the environment. Without planning and public policies, the situation loses control, and what would benefit human dignity becomes harmful implications in cities and in the health of people, especially the most vulnerable, who live in precarious places, without basic sanitation infrastructures. Environmental degradation is one of the most visible impacts that the lack of basic sanitation can provide, sewage discharged into nature, polluting supply reservoirs. For cities, this can lead to disease outbreaks. Where 35 million people do not have access to clean water and are neglected this right that would be for everyone. With the new sanitation framework and the federal government’s investments and hopes for improvements, coupled with the awareness of preserving the environment and not wasting water.
