This research addresses the conservation of Heritage in Brazil from the analysis of the historic center of the city of Parnaíba-PI. The theme arises from the need to look at the heritage and its preservation even after the application of the maximum legal instrument of Brazilian preservation, which is the tipping over. Thus, we seek to investigate the relationships between heritage, memory and identity and the current state of preservation and conservation of Brazilian cities based on the case of Piauí. As a spatial feature of this research, part of the historic center of the city of Parnaíba-PI was chosen, an important representative of the Historic Urban Landscape of that city, which has been listed by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute, IPHAN, since 2008. The objective The general aim of this study is to analyze and understand the agents acting in the construction of the historic urban landscape of the analyzed site and how they are reflected in the relations of memory and local identity. The methodology of the work, in addition to the necessary theoretical update, was understood in three stages: survey, analysis and propositions. Authors such as: Pollack (1992); Sampaio (2018); Pereira (2016); Pinheiro (2006); Somekh (2015); Unesco (2016), who discussed themes related to the object of study in order to provide a theoretical basis on the subject addressed. The research intends to reach the understanding of the modifications made in the studied architectural group through the analysis of the urban landscape of the cities of Piauí, in order to strengthen the cultural meanings of their place of memory.
