Abstract

With the threat of a global water crisis, the preservation of water courses becomes essential to guarantee new generations through collectives in favor of the environment. The objective of this work is to present the historical and environmental conditions of the Córrego do Feijão Cru, located in the city of Leopoldina, in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais. From the literature review and field surveys carried out between 2019-2021, an analysis of this water landscape inserted in an urban center of a medium-sized city is presented. As a result, there is the importance of adopting recovery measures along the Feijão Stream to preserve the historical, scenic and sanitary aspects. It is concluded that only with an integrated and multidisciplinary action will it be possible to promote not only the recovery of the stream, but also social and political awareness to protect the environment in its most sensitive examples, such as water in urban areas.
