When reflecting on the benefits of conserving architectural cultural heritage and reusing pre-existing buildings to mitigate the effects of climate change, which are favored by civil construction activities, this article sought to present solutions to resolve the existing damages in the Luiz Nunes Pavilion, built in Recife, in 1937, under the precepts of modern architecture developed by Le Corbusier. To this end, the research was divided into three moments: construction characterization, prepared using the Dimension Analysis method; diagnosis, developed with the aid of maps and damage identification sheets and based on visual inspections carried out on site; and conduct, which encompass proposed actions aiming at less intervention in the property and greater compatibility between the original techniques and materials. The diagnosis and suggested guidelines, of proven effectiveness and easy execution, ensure the feasibility of resuming the use of the Pavilion, providing the population of Recife with another space with which to establish links and create new meanings for their identity, in addition to reducing the environmental impacts generated by the demand for new construction.
