Focus and Scope

The Electronic Journal "Environmental Forum of Alta Paulista" is dedicated to the dissemination of scientific research and the promotion of academic and professional discussions across a broad range of interdisciplinary topics encompassing urban studies, geography, environment, and sustainability.

In the urban context, the journal addresses studies on urban ambiance and resilience, exploring how cities adapt to environmental changes and strengthen their structures and communities. Additionally, it investigates the role of architecture in urban formation and cultural heritage preservation, as well as the integration of technologies in cities to promote sustainability and improve urban quality of life. The management and preservation of architectural, cultural, and landscape heritage, along with the relationship between urban planning, ecology, and landscape preservation, are also key areas of focus.

In the field of geography, the journal explores the planning and management of water resources, with a focus on watershed preservation, as well as biogeographical studies that map and analyze the distribution of species and ecosystems. It reflects on the foundations and methods of geography education, and examines the physical characteristics of the Earth through geology and geomorphology studies. Analyses of urban and population geography, the use of geotechnologies applied to environmental analysis, and studies of climatology with a focus on climate change are also central themes, along with reflections on geographical thought and the production of geographic space.

In the realm of environment and sustainability, the journal emphasizes the importance of biodiversity conservation and the effectiveness of conservation units, while also analyzing the impact of agribusiness and agricultural practices on the rural environment with the aim of finding sustainable solutions. Environmental education is explored as a tool to broaden understanding and awareness of environmental issues, while new sustainable technologies are investigated for their potential to contribute to environmental sustainability. Studies that examine the interface between public health, sanitation, and environmental quality, as well as research on tourism as a vector for economic and social development in areas with natural and cultural potential, complement the journal's comprehensive scope.

Peer Review Process: All submitted articles undergo a rigorous peer review process, where they are reviewed by two referees. In case of disagreement, a third reviewer will be consulted, ensuring quality and impartiality in publication.

The Electronic Journal Fórum Ambiental da Alta Paulista is deeply committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethics in scientific publishing. All those involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the editorial team, must adhere to practices that ensure the integrity and quality of the published works.

1. Responsibilities of the Editors: The editors of Fórum Ambiental da Alta Paulista hold the final responsibility for the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts submitted to the journal. They must make decisions based on the originality, scientific relevance, and clarity of the work, without any discrimination or external influence. Editors are responsible for ensuring that the peer review process is fair, impartial, and anonymous. In cases of suspected misconduct, the editors must conduct an appropriate investigation and, if necessary, take corrective actions, including the publication of corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern.

2. Duties of the Authors: Authors submitting their work to Fórum Ambiental da Alta Paulista must ensure that their research is original and not under consideration for publication in another journal. All authors should have significantly contributed to the conception, execution, and interpretation of the research, and must review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission. Additionally, authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and be prepared to correct or retract the work in case of significant errors or unethical practices identified after publication.

3. Obligations of the Reviewers: Reviewers play a vital role in ensuring the scientific quality of the published articles. They must provide objective, confidential, and constructive reviews, offering clear and substantiated feedback to the authors and editors. Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts where there is a conflict of interest and must alert the editors to any content that is substantially similar to work already published or submitted elsewhere.

4. Role of the Publisher: The publisher of Fórum Ambiental da Alta Paulista is responsible for ensuring that all editorial practices adhere to the ethical standards described. This includes the use of plagiarism detection tools to identify and prevent the publication of works that do not meet originality standards. The publisher must also take prompt corrective actions in cases of proven misconduct, preserving the journal's reputation and integrity.

5. Measures Against Misconduct: Fórum Ambiental da Alta Paulista adopts a rigorous stance against any form of academic misconduct, such as plagiarism, data fabrication, and falsification of results. Misconduct allegations can be made by anyone at any time and will be treated with appropriate confidentiality. An investigation will be conducted, and if misconduct is confirmed, corrective actions may include the publication of retractions and corrections, notification of higher authorities, and the suspension of future submissions from the involved parties.
