Currently, the informational economy has become a cultural economy, which has made culture a driving force for new market demands. A variety of projects, plans and urban policies that use culture as a main theme have been disseminated in the last three decades. The use of cultural aspects has several dimensions and should be used as an element of enrichment and not as a commodity which the intended result is only profit.
The article seeks to present introductory concepts regarding culture, the culturalization of cities, cultural policies and creative cities, in order to briefly discuss this very complex field of action.
