The sustentability of preserving
Architectual attributes, preserving state, and directives of restauration of Nossa Senhora do Amparo Church, Olinda – PE, Brazil

Conserving and preserving the ancient buildings is a sustentability act as the solid waste generated by civil construction are reduced by the demolition and construction actions. This paper analyses the architectual attributes of Nossa Senhora do Amparo Church, located in Olinda – PE, and evaluated its preserving state, pointing the guidelines of restauration, as contribution to its list, considering that the building dates back to the dutch invasion and does not have individual listing, despite its traces and its architectual and histocial values. This paper in addition to contribute with the preservation of a building, reducing the new constructions, is um published considering the little scientific literature published about the mentioned church, and there is not publications with the same approach of this paper. Bibliographic sources were consoulted, such as: articles, books and documents that revealed the history and importance of the building. Visitations in loco ware made to identify the attributes and its conserving state. This paper also contributes to documentation and dissemination of the relevance of the temple and its cultural, historical and artistic values that represent the community of Amparo, and may serve as reference to the preservation list, for identifies the architectural attributes that relate to colonial times, as the fancy altars made of wood in rococó style, amongs others. That way, this study contributes to the preservation of the temple which importance is historical for Olinda’s with tectonics attributes that must be preserved for the present and future generations.
