About the Journal
The National Journal of City Management (RNGC), internationally known as the Revista Nacional de Gerenciamento de Cidades (RNGC), is an open-access scientific journal dedicated to the dissemination of original and unpublished research in the fields of Architecture and Urbanism, Urban and Regional Planning, Territorial Management, and related areas. The journal publishes empirical, experimental, theoretical, and conceptual studies developed within graduate programs or research of equivalent academic and scientific relevance.
Ranked as Qualis Periódicos A2 in the CAPES 2021–2024 Quadriennial Evaluation, released on January 12, 2026, the journal seeks to advance scientific knowledge on the processes of planning, management, development, and transformation of contemporary cities, fostering qualified debate on the urban, environmental, social, economic, and territorial challenges of the twenty-first century.
Since 2020, all articles have been published in both Portuguese and English, enhancing the international visibility of scientific production and strengthening academic exchange among researchers, institutions, and research centers in Brazil and abroad.
RNGC is published by ANAP Press, affiliated with the Association of Friends of Nature of Alta Paulista (ANAP), a non-profit private organization founded on September 14, 2003. The institution promotes scientific research, education, environmental sustainability, and territorial development, supporting the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge in Brazil.
Committed to scientific integrity, editorial quality, and the broad dissemination of knowledge, the journal adopts a peer-review process and encourages the submission of studies that contribute to innovative, sustainable, and socially responsible solutions for urban and regional territories.
In accordance with its editorial policy, RNGC accepts manuscripts exclusively from authors and co-authors who hold at least a master's degree and are affiliated with graduate programs, research institutions, or organizations with recognized scientific activities. Submissions including authors or co-authors who do not meet the minimum academic qualification are not accepted.
Focus and Scope
The National Journal of City Management publishes original scientific studies aimed at understanding, analyzing, planning, and managing the dynamics that characterize contemporary urban and regional spaces.
Its scope includes research related to urban and regional planning, urban design, territorial governance, sustainability, mobility and accessibility, housing, infrastructure, environmental sanitation, natural resource management, climate change, urban resilience, landscape, cultural heritage, technological innovation, smart cities, land regularization, social inclusion, socio-spatial justice, citizen participation, and public policies focused on territorial development.
The journal also encourages studies examining the impacts of economic, social, environmental, and technological transformations on urban territories, as well as research proposing methodologies, instruments, technologies, and strategies for city planning and management.
Interdisciplinary approaches that promote dialogue among Architecture and Urbanism, Engineering, Geography, Environmental Sciences, Public Administration, Sociology, Economics, Law, Regional Planning, and related fields are particularly valued.
By disseminating scientific research and critical reflections on the urban environment, RNGC seeks to contribute to the development of more inclusive, resilient, sustainable, efficient, and socially just cities.
Publication Frequency
Since 2023, the National Journal of City Management (RNGC) has adopted a continuous publication model with a quadrimestral frequency (three issues per year), providing greater agility in the dissemination of research results and the circulation of academic knowledge.
Open Access Policy
RNGC follows the principles of Open Access, providing free and unrestricted access to all its content without charges for reading, downloading, sharing, or consultation. The journal is grounded in the understanding that unrestricted access to scientific knowledge promotes its dissemination, strengthens the democratization of information, and contributes to scientific, technological, and social development.
